Mining operations demand the highest levels of safety and reliability, especially when located in prohibitive geographic environments. At a mine in the High Andean region of Huaral–Pacaraos, dedicated to the extraction and processing of polymetallic minerals, the primary challenge was ensuring the continuity of the electrical supply at an altitude exceeding 4,800 meters above sea level. At such elevations, extreme weather conditions and environmental factors pose significant risks to electrical components. The site required a robust protection and control system capable of preventing failures and safeguarding critical equipment around the clock.
In partnership with our distributor Promelsa, a solution was implemented based on Medium Voltage (MV) secondary switchgear with NEMA 3R enclosures, specifically designed for outdoor operation in harsh environments. Inside these units, Finder relays perform essential functions as interface and protection elements:
Each relay operates as a critical interface, ensuring safe, reliable, and continuous operation of the electrical infrastructure.
The integration of Finder relays guaranteed a dependable protection system, ensuring the integrity of the mine’s electrical operations and the continuity of extraction processes:
