Introduction to relay systems
There is a valid alternative to the traditional lighting system, with its switches and circuit breakers, for installation in residential and commercial applications.
Versatility
Apart from the technical advantages of the product, a greater variety of mounting modes can be used. From a normal junction box, to screw terminal fixing, DIN rail mounting systems, plugs or plate systems.
Security
A transformer can be used for the command circuit, where necessary, to provide a variety of voltages that differ from that of the supply voltage in both A.C. and D.C. Not only are there savings by simplifying the system, and increased security through separating the command and power circuits, but also there is the great versatility of use that no other component could offer.
Simplicity
One-way switches, two-way switches and intermediate switches can be replaced by push buttons and relays. In fact the installer is able to install a so-called command circuit, separate from the supply voltage, extendable at various points. This solution only needs two cables which can be smaller since they only need to conduct the load of the relay coil (20 - 600 mA). The power circuit should be of a large enough capacity, but instead of following the usual route of a traditional system, it starts from the relay terminals and is linked directly to the power source. Economy and flexibility Creating a system with more than one main switch, as well as those placed some distance from each other, has always proved costly and complicated. It is well known that, for instance, three wires are needed for each switch, whilst four are needed for the intermediate switch. In such cases impulse (step) relays are extremely useful and advantageous. They greatly simplify system installation and expansion, as well as noticeably reducing the costs involved.
